The present development of Precision Farming in Europe is strongly stamped by technology. lt should remain like this for the near future, because of the high significance of the agricultural engineering industry and because of the definition of technological standards, being used all over the world. lt can be assumed, that serially available yield measuring systems in harvesters are state of the art. Likewise, electronically controlled application technology (seeding, fertilization, plant protection) and the use of ISOBUS for the communication between tractor and implement are standard. Depending on the requirements, GPS in different accuracy Ieveis will be utilized for a broad range of processes in crop production. The upcoming developments will try to be even more consistent with economic and ecologic specifications and requirements, as this was already the case. ln the foreground are here guidance applications and headland management systems. Automated data acquisition can be realized easily and fast by using ISOBUS, which Iifts the management on a new Ievei and at the same time, documentation and traceability are guaranteed. Additional and improved sensors allow for an online evaluation of ingredients. Also, transborder farming will come faster into practice with these technologies. However, the utilization of field robots in Europe is presently not observable or foreseeable.      «
