Ziel der Arbeit war es, anhand des Fragebogens „Aging Males Symptoms Rating Scale“ die Auswirkungen einer HIV-Erkrankung auf Alterungsprozesse und Lebensqualität zu untersuchen. Zu diesem Zweck wurden in einem Zeitraum von einem Jahr zweimalig HIV-positive Probanden über 50 Jahre befragt und mit an Diabetes erkrankten und gesunden Kontrollprobanden verglichen. Die Untersuchung ergab eine erhöhte Belastung durch altersassoziierte Beschwerden bei der Gruppe der HIV-positiven und der Diabetes-Probanden im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe.     «

The rationale of this doctoral thesis was to investigate the effect of the HIV-infection on aging and health related quality of life. For this purpose HIV-infected subjects older than 50 years completed the “Aging Males Symptoms Rating Scale”-questionnaire and again after one year follow-up. They were compared to subjects with Diabetes and healthy control subjects. It could be shown that the HIV-positive group and the Diabetes group were more impaired with age-related symptoms than the control group.     «
