Abstract:
This dissertation presents the rare earth metal-mediated group transfer polymerization (REM-GTP) of polar monomers, notably vinylphosphonates. Approaches for efficient initiators for α-C−H acidic monomers, studies on ligand-induced steric crowding, and first insights on isotactic poly(vinylphosphonate)s are presented in this work. REM-GTP can be further expanded toward other monomers and macromolecular structures for the synthesis of tailored functional materials using these novel synthetic meth...     »
