This dissertation provides evidence on the competitive advantage in private equity. In the first essay, I show that non-financial resources of venture capitalists are beneficial to entrepreneurial success and enable sustained competitive advantage. The second essay on leveraged buyouts finds a decreasing competitive advantage of financial engineering in competitive markets. The third essay sheds light on the persistence of private equity sponsors’ investment strategies and discusses the competitive advantage of these strategies.     «

Die Dissertation untersucht Fragestellungen rund um den Wettbewerbsvorteil im Private Equity. Zunächst wird gezeigt, dass nicht-finanzielle Ressourcen von Venture-Capital-Gesellschaften einen nachhaltigen Wettbewerbsvorteil darstellen. Anschließend wird für Leveraged Buyouts der abnehmende Wettbewerbsvorteil von Financial Engineering im Wettbewerbsumfeld gefunden. Darüber hinaus wird Aufschluss über die Persistenz von Value-Creation-Strategien von Private-Equity-Sponsoren für Leveraged Buyouts und den Wettbewerbsvorteil dieser Strategien gegeben.     «
