Nanomagnetic Logic (NML) is an emerging beyond CMOS technology exploiting field interaction between nano-scaled magnets in order to realize magnetic logic computing devices and circuits. In comparison to the conventional transistor based CMOS technology, NML may offer significant improvements in terms of power consumption and integration densities. Non-volatility, radiation hardness and operation at room temperature are further key features of NML. In perpendicular NML, the magnets possess perpendicular magnetic anisotropy leading to a bistable magnetization state. Magnetic 'up' and 'down' states are encoded with the Boolean logic states '1' and '0'. Magneto-static interactions between neighboring magnets are exploited to compute and propagate information. Recent approaches focus the three dimensional integration of perpendicular NML. By the three dimensional arrangement of magnets, new design possibilities are provided promising for higher integration densities and more robustness of magnetic logic circuits. A fabrication technique for the monolithic 3D integration of perpendicular NML is presented and the feasibility of 3D magnetic computing is proven on the basis of a 3D majority logic gate.     «
