Kurzfassung:
We investigated the influence of EphB3-ephrinB3 signaling on adult neural stem/ progenitor cells. EphB3 forward signaling suppresses proliferation in ambient and hypoxic environments. Unbound EphB3 leads to apoptosis, whereas binding to ligand ephrinB3 increases cell survival. Hypoxia induces down-regulation of EphB3, resulting in increased proliferation and survival. In the future, regulation of EphB3-ephrinB3 signaling could be utilized to improve outcome after CNS injury.
