The social change provide s challenges for organizations. Particular problems are the demographical change and thus the lack of skilled labour or the changed employee needs. An approach to face this problems is the idea to open up the organizational boundaries and make them adjustable and permeable towards its environment. This approach is basically called an Open Organization , whereas this paper presents a framework of an Open Organization . It specifies the current understandi ng and points out important elements of Open Organization . Nevertheless the presented framework is not a universal approach, it focuses on product development in engineering disciplines.     «
