- Bei Patienten mit paroxysmalem Vorhofflimmern ist die Rolle der Vorhofvolumina bei der Entstehung eines Rezidives nach Pulmonalvenenisolation (PVI) nicht geklärt. Es ist außerdem unklar, ob vergrößerte Pulmonalvenenostien das Rezidivrisiko nach PVI erhöhen. Diese Arbeit kann zeigen, dass das Rezidivrisiko nach PVI mit steigender Größe/ Fläche der Pulmonalvenenostien zunimmt. Es zeigt sich jedoch kein direkter Zusammenhang zwischen Rezidivrisiko und den Vorhofvolumina.

- In patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation the relevance of atrial volumes for the risk of recurrence of atrial fibrillation after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) remains uncertain. It is also unsure whether an enlarged area of the pulmonary veins increases the risk of a recrudescence after PVI. This study shows a higher risk of recurrence of atrial fibrillation for increasing areas of the pulmonary veins, but no direct relation between the risk of a recrudescence and atrial volumes.
