- This paper describes the development of an energy management module for existing manufacturing execution systems. By means of this module it is possible to not only monitor the energy consumption of a plant, but also to control it to ensure that a given peak load value is not exceeded. For this load management functionality, a model-based approach is used to predict the energy consumption of plant components and derive appropriate countermeasures.
