- Dismantling of neuronal processes (axons) occurs in neurodegenerative diseases, but is also part of normal development. Various in vitro and post mortem studies pointed to deficits in axonal transport. Aim of my thesis was the investigation of mitochondrial transport by means of intravital-microscopy in mouse models of axon loss. Both in a model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and during the development of the neuromuscular junction we observed a reduction in axonal transport.

- Der Verlust neuronaler Fortsätze (Axone) tritt im Rahmen neurodegenerativer Erkrankungen auf, ist aber auch Teil der normalen Entwicklung. Zahlreiche in vitro und post mortem Studien haben dabei Hinweise auf Störungen des axonalen Transports ergeben. Ziel meiner Arbeit war die Messung mitochondrialen Transportes mittels Intravitalmikroskopie in Mausmodellen eines Axonverlustes.
