Abstract:
Two different aspects of the helimagnetic material systems MnSi and Mn1-xFexSi were treated. In the first part, spin transfer torques in MnSi were examined and in the second part spin fluctuations in pure MnSi and in Mn1-xFexSi.
The influence of electric current on the magnetic structure in the skyrmion phase of MnSi was measured with small angle neutron scattering. A rotation of the scattering patterns was observed, where the rotational sense was dependent on the direction of the current, the applied magnetic field and a temperature gradient created in the sample.
The spin fluctuations were measured by inelastic neutron scattering with a triple axis spectrometer. The data of pure MnSi is in accordance with previous studies, the data of Mn1-xFexSi is consistent with the data of MnSi.
